This is one of the very first manufacturers of heating equipment to appear on the Russian market. Although the history of the company began in 1930, the famous brand was created only 30 years later. Today they sell their products in 150 countries. But it was thanks to the well-known brand that their heating products quickly gained popularity, and the variety of models allows you to choose a boiler for almost any room. There is an official representative office in Russia.
The equipment of this brand is fully adapted to Russian conditions. For example, boilers are not afraid of low gas pressure in the main and are designed to operate even at very low temperatures. All modern protection systems are built in here. Owners especially like to note the low noise level during operation. Official dealers and service centers are represented in dozens of Russian cities.
The device is based on the example of a turbocharged single-circuit Ariston Clas Evo System FF. The pipes are not all made of copper, quite a few are composite materials. Almost all connections are metal and threaded. Good layout, insulation and sealing. There are noticeably many more components and electronics than a standard wall-mounted boiler.
Previously, Ariston wall-mounted gas boilers were equipped only with a copper primary heat exchanger. But today they have begun to use aluminum; it has similar thermal conductivity and resistance to corrosion, but allows the walls of the heat exchanger to be made thicker, which eliminates burnout. Problems rarely arise with electronic boards. And in general, this company is quite advanced in terms of electronics. In many price ranges, Ariston gas boilers are distinguished by the presence of a programmer, remote control via Wi-Fi or modulation of the power of the circulation pump.
In recent years, boilers have changed a lot both internally and externally. And the operating experience and reviews of the owners have become quite contradictory. On the one hand, everyone appreciates simplicity and ease of management. On the other hand, problems with boilers also happen. They especially complain about cheap models, often about their heat exchangers and three-way valves.

Double-circuit turbocharged boiler with a power of 24 kW. This model replaced the EGIS PLUS 24. The manufacturer took into account the wishes of the owners and created more advanced equipment. The heat exchangers are separate, the primary one is made of high quality aluminum, which is thicker, has the same thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance as copper. A reliable SIT gas valve and a durable POLIDORO burner are installed here - a common reliable combination. The efficiency by the standards of convection wall models is quite high - 93.7%. Gas consumption does not exceed 2.73 m³/h.
Operating the boiler is quite simple. And even if there are any problems, the informative liquid crystal display will notify you about this (the boiler also contains all modern protection systems). Owners often note silent operation, very pleasant appearance and convenient operation. But there are many questions about the reliability of the heat exchanger; there are cases of its leakage.

Another double-circuit boiler with a closed combustion chamber. The heat exchangers in it are also separate, the primary one is aluminum. The efficiency is also 93.7%, and the maximum flow rate is the same 2.73 m³/h. It is distinguished by more extensive functionality and manufacturability.
For example, a circulation pump with automatic speed control, which in practice really reduces energy consumption. The “comfort” function allows you to reduce the hot water supply time to five seconds. Convenient setup is carried out using a single Sensys control panel, which supports the BusBridgeNet communication protocol. It is worth noting that, unlike the CARES X model, much less composite materials are used here. But that's why the price is higher.
There are also much fewer questions about heat exchangers, although to the naked eye they do not differ in either alloy or design. Single-circuit models are also produced; they are marked with the prefix SYSTEM.
ALTEAS X 24 FF NG
This stylish double-circuit boiler stands out from the rest. And the reason is not only in appearance, but also in the device. There is a low-noise circulation pump installed here, an intelligent touch control panel, quite convenient and quite practical, easy to operate in practice. It can be connected to the Ariston NET proprietary smart home system. A great rarity, especially among boilers in the mid-price segment, is a built-in Wi-Fi module. You can view and change any boiler parameters from your smartphone or laptop. One of the most useful solutions in gas boilers is the programmer.
The heat exchangers, as in all mounted Ariston models, are separate, the primary heat exchanger is aluminum, the secondary one is made of stainless steel as standard. The efficiency is still the same - 93.7%, the maximum gas flow is also 2.73 m³/h, the burner is modulated. In fact, the basic design is unchanged in almost all wall-mounted models of the manufacturer.
The circulation pump is modulated (with automatically changing speed), according to the manufacturer, it saves up to 30% of electricity, which often corresponds to the claim. There is a “comfort” function (water heating in 5 seconds). If you turn on the “auto” function, the boiler itself will adjust the operating mode that is required to maintain a constant temperature. As with most modern wall units, there is a self-diagnosis system, protection against overheating, freezing and pump blocking. The menu is completely Russified.
The dimensions of the boiler are quite compact, and the weight is only 30 kg. Owners rarely complain about this model. But they note that the front panel is easy to get dirty with your hands, since it is made of glass.
GENUS ONE 24
A double-circuit condensing boiler with a closed combustion chamber has an increased efficiency of 104%, which is a fairly standard figure. Updated XtraTech stainless steel primary heat exchanger. Automatically adapts to gas parameters, and the power range changes in a ratio of 1 to 10. Soundproof panels and a silencer make the boiler operate as quietly as possible.
Another feature worth noting is the weather-sensitive automation. A unique set of smart functions allows you to increase efficiency to class A+. Like the previous model, the boiler can be installed in residential premises, as it has a modern design, compact dimensions and light weight. There is also a single-circuit model with the SYSTEM prefix. In general, the price can also be considered an advantage; most condensing models cost 90 thousand rubles and more.
All operating features and selection criteria for condensing gas boilers
ALTEAS ONE NET
Expensive, but the most stylish and functional condensing double-circuit gas boiler Ariston. Roughly speaking, this is a combination of the Genus ONE device and the functionality of ALTEAS X FF NG with some modifications. The primary heat exchanger has a pipe cross-section increased by 142% compared to previous generations, so the service life of such a heat exchanger is much longer, and it can be cleaned less often. The burner and circulation pump are modulating. The boiler is capable of producing hot water up to 12.8 liters per minute.
It is convenient to configure parameters using a large touch display, the menu of which is entirely in Russian. Has a built-in Wi-Fi adapter for control and monitoring from a smartphone or laptop. The kit also includes an external room thermostat.
Floor-standing
Ariston does not have a variety of floor-standing models, so I decided to consider only one, which is also the most common and successful.
UNOBLOC GPV 24 RI
Classic single-circuit floor-mounted atmospheric (for operation you will need a chimney through the roof). When compared with atmospheric boilers from other manufacturers, it has a rather high price, but there are reasons for this. Firstly, from the factory the model has a built-in 12-liter expansion tank and a circulation pump, which is rare among floor-standing boilers. Secondly, the heat exchanger here is cast iron, which is resistant to corrosion and has a service life of 30 years or more. Its design is quite modern - sectional, therefore an efficiency of around 90.2% is a very serious indicator for floor-standing boilers. The maximum gas flow exceeds 2.8 m³/h.
All necessary protection systems and additional thermal insulation of the housing are also present. The only drawbacks are volatility and rather heavy weight due to the cast iron heat exchanger.

What are condensing boilers and what are their advantages over conventional gas boilers?
HIGH EFFICIENCY
A specially designed heat exchanger is installed in the condensing boiler, in which the gas combustion products are cooled to a temperature below +40⁰С, so the water vapor contained in the smoke turns into liquid.
In this case, a certain amount of heat is released, which is used to heat the house, and does not simply fly out into the chimney, as when using traditional gas boilers.
ECONOMICAL
Approximately 15–35% higher than traditional boilers.
HIGH-TECH BURNERS
Thanks to them, the gas-air ratio is optimal, which minimizes the likelihood of incomplete combustion of fuel. As a result, the amount of harmful emissions in the exhaust gases is significantly reduced.
LOW REQUIREMENTS FOR CHIMNEYS
The temperature of the exhaust gases is low (below 50–70°C), so plastic chimneys can be used. They can be brought out through the wall, as they are compact and contain small diameter pipes.
In many European countries, the installation of traditional gas boilers is prohibited. The reason is clear: condensing boilers work with the greatest efficiency and cause less harm to the environment.
HOW DO WE CALCULATE EFFICIENCY?
To make it possible to compare condensing boilers with traditional ones, the efficiency calculation is carried out as follows: a condensing boiler uses all the heat of combustion, which is taken into account in conventional boilers (100%), and the heat of condensation (another 8–9%).
The efficiency of condensing boilers is usually 107–109%.

+ Charge tap
If the pressure in the boiler is constantly increasing, the reason may be a broken feed tap. Unfortunately, it is unlikely to be repaired. I have encountered cases where it simply broke in half and it was no longer possible to pull it out. In order not to buy the entire return group, it is better to replace only the faucet.
+ Three-way valve
When you turn on hot water in the summer, the heating may begin to heat up. Or the pressure rises to the limit. Most likely, the reason here is the three-way valve. In some cases it can be repaired. For example, if water is leaking from a valve, you need to pull out the stem, clean, lubricate and install it back.
+ Servo drive
Sometimes hot water problems are not caused by a mechanical issue. Here the reason may be in the servo drive of the three-way valve. Replacing the spring helps, but this method is not the most reliable. The only way to eliminate the problem 100% is by replacing the servo drive.
And now I would like to talk about the most common operational problems, which are not always associated with a breakdown.
+ Does not heat hot water
When the boiler does not heat hot water, there may be several reasons. The most common is a clogged flow sensor. This is a rotating magnet that determines whether water passes through or not. It's easy enough to clean. The boiler can heat water, but very poorly. For example, if it makes noise when turned on, the secondary heat exchanger is to blame, which is clogged with scale. And it’s also enough to clean it.
+ Pressure drops
If the pressure in the boiler drops, first check the heating for leaks. Although it may be in the boiler itself. To check, you need to remove the front cover and do a visual inspection. Particular attention should be paid to the primary heat exchanger and the three-way valve. If there is no leak, you should check the expansion tank. Most common error codes
Ariston boilers have a fairly informative display, but still some errors should be examined in more detail. It is worth noting that sometimes there is no breakdown. It is enough to reboot the boiler with the “reset” button.
+ Error 104 – heat exchanger overheating
This error appears when there is poor circulation in the system. The water simply does not have time to pass through the heat exchanger and the temperature rises quickly. Most likely, it is clogged with dirt and scale. Needs cleaning. Although the reason may be a breakdown of the circulation pump, sensors or electronic board. But this is the rarest case.
+ Error 108 – pressure drop below critical level
The first thing that comes to mind is to refuel the system. If the error appears constantly, the cause is a coolant leak. Although this is usually visible from puddles under the boiler, pipes or radiators. If there is no puddle, then air has escaped from the expansion tank. He should be pumped up. Although sometimes the membrane breaks, then the tank has to be changed.
+ Error 501 – no flame on the burner
This error occurs after three unsuccessful ignition attempts. The boiler clicks but does not turn on. To correct the error, you should inspect the ignition electrodes. In most cases, they are the ones to blame. It is not always necessary to change them; simply cleaning them is enough. But the electronic board may also break.
+ Error SP3 - flame separation
The reason may be a problem with the chimney, gas pipeline or electrical network. First of all, you should check for the presence of gas. If everything is fine, the gas valve may have broken. The sp3 error also appears when the network voltage is low. A stabilizer will help here. Sometimes an error occurs if the ionization sensor has failed. Or the reason is in the electronic board.

I will not consider domestic manufacturers of gas boilers. I see them extremely rarely, so I can’t draw any conclusions.

European manufacturers: VIESSMANN (Vissmann), VAILLANT (Vailant), BUDERUS (Buderus). German organizations that, taking into account globalization, have production in Turkey, Russia, and China. This trio specializes in thermal equipment. They fill the niche of thermal energy sources. From gas wall-mounted and floor-standing boilers to heat pumps. They also produce solid fuel, diesel and electric boilers.

Wissmann has a popular budget model of a double-circuit gas wall-mounted boiler VITOPEND (Vitopend), with a power of up to 35 kW. They are relatively inexpensive; Viessmann Vitopend 100-W can be purchased for 45 thousand rubles.

The best double-circuit gas boiler - review from an installer
In my opinion, VIESSMANN VITOPEND 100 has a balanced balance of simplicity, and at the same time reliability and quality. In complex equipment, maintaining this balance is incredibly difficult.
On January 2, 2021, I replaced my old VIESSMANN VITOPEND 100 with a new condensing boiler VIESSMANN VITODENS 050. I believe that this is the best budget condensing gas boiler in terms of price-quality ratio.
German wall-mounted double-circuit gas boilers
I like that Wissmann makes complex boilers that consist of some simple components that are as reliable as possible. The menu is primitive, even my mother can figure it out.
And Vaillant begins to fall into some kind of complex menu, the mandatory participation of a service specialist. I don’t like their service policy; the over-engineered boiler control logic irritates me.
Why order a project if you can do it without it?
The user in Vaillant cannot figure it out. To change the boiler settings, you need to consult the instructions, or go somewhere, etc. On the one hand, this is a plus. In the sense that this is protection against fools, so that the user does not interfere with the operation of the boiler. On the other hand, this makes life difficult for installers.
Price and price list for heating installation in a private house
It is difficult to explain to the user over the phone what and where to press in order for the boiler to turn on after it has gone into error.
Vailant boilers are economical and technologically advanced, but in our operation this may be a disadvantage. They are picky about the quality of water and electricity. Those boilers that were installed 8-10 years ago (I have accumulated my own breakdown statistics) break down more often than Wissmann.
Although this is the same class of device. Vaillant has expensive spare parts, and according to my statistics, they break down more often than Buderus.
If we consider more budget options, this is Buderus. In general, the boilers are reliable. These boilers are produced here. Cheap parts, normal build quality. According to my observations, the boilers are reliable.
I installed approximately the same number of boilers from Wissmann and Buderus, but Vailant had much fewer, and 80% of Vailant boilers had some kind of breakdown of varying degrees of complexity. But they were all noticeably expensive. Even replacing the make-up valve cost 2-3 thousand rubles. Buderus never changed the feed valve in the boilers.
So I try not to recommend Vaillant. In my opinion, Vailant’s entire policy is geared towards service, and to become a service you need to buy a set of spare parts. This is relevant for the Moscow or northwestern region. People live richer there, they think about service, and are willing to pay for it.
Installers can earn money from warranties and service.
In the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea there are few people willing to pay for a guarantee and service. But loading up on spare parts for Vailant boilers and trying to make money on repairs by imposing additional services on customers is not our style.
Italian wall-mounted double-circuit gas boilers
Italians in general are not bad in quality, but, in my opinion, worse than the Germans. Overall, I liked Baksi, their approach, and service policy. Spare parts are cheaper than the Germans, but also quite expensive. Boilers rarely break down.
Ariston are generally good boilers; there are components that break regularly. This is a three-way valve if there is a divided heat exchanger in the boiler.
In Adygea, where there is hard water, the valve breaks once a year.
Fondital and Nova Florida are quite poorly distributed in our country. They used to be popular because of their low price. Cheap boilers according to Italians. I haven't installed them for the last five years. Those boilers that I installed before work normally even under poor operating conditions.
Ferroli. I also do not recommend these gas boilers. Expensive spare parts and problems with service.
Korean double-circuit wall-mounted gas boilers
Navien boilers are common in our region. Cheap segment, entered the market well. The boilers are not bad, but there is a weak component that ruins everything. This is the primary heat exchanger. They have him dead. If something breaks in Navien, then 90% is the primary heat exchanger.
Now that we have accumulated many years of experience in their operation, it is clear that customers do not like it. Negative word of mouth spreads. I think that because of this, Navien’s sales probably fell.
In general, the boiler is unpretentious, spare parts are cheap, but the primary heat exchanger ruins everything.
If they got rid of the design flaw with the heat exchanger, I think they would have greatly captured the market. I myself would put them on with great pleasure. There is no point in buying a boiler that will break down in a year or two on hard water. The heat exchanger for this boiler costs from 6 thousand rubles + work to replace it.
I installed few Naviens, but maintained a lot. I have not seen a boiler that worked for more than three years without breaking the heat exchanger. I came across old boilers with a copper heat exchanger that worked trouble-free for 6-8 years.
Kiturami. I can't say anything bad. They are not widespread in our country, inexpensive spare parts.
Deo . There was a time when these boilers often broke down. But then the design was improved, and the boilers stopped falling. In general, the boilers that I came across and installed myself performed well.
Chinese double-circuit wall-mounted gas boiler
Chinese gas boilers often break down. But Chinese boiler manufacturers are gradually taking over the market and are constantly improving quality.
Do-it-yourself piping of a solid fuel boiler
My prediction: within 5 years they will begin to actively invade the market, because the quality will improve, the price is low + development has begun in automation, controlling the boiler from the phone. Sensor technology, remote access, all this will be integrated into boilers.
Nowadays there are such electric kettles that, in terms of functionality, remind me a little of a spaceship. Gas technology is a little conservative in this sense. Of course, some models of gas boilers have access via the Internet; some settings can be made from a smartphone. But all this is not the same. I think that in the near future the Chinese will make a breakthrough in gas technology.
Poor operating conditions of gas boilers
Few people know, and even more so pay attention to the operating conditions of gas boilers. Boilers break down quickly due to two reasons:
- Chemically and mechanically polluted water. Impurities of sand, scale, a lot of iron, increased hardness.
- Lack of grounding, voltage surges.
Due to water quality, heat exchangers and valves fail.
The gas boiler must be serviced periodically.
Double-circuit gas boiler for heating a private house
Double-circuit boilers are suitable for small heating systems with an area of up to 100 square meters. With one bathroom and preferably adjacent to the kitchen. And the boiler was nearby. For apartment heating, double-circuit boilers are a great solution.
If there are 4 or more people living in a house, two bathrooms, if there is a large distance between the boiler and consumers, then the double-circuit boiler begins to work at the limit of its capabilities, which leads to its breakdown.
I would not recommend installing double-circuit gas boilers with a power of less than 20 kW for one reason: this boiler power is excessive for heating, and for hot water supply it will not be enough.
In order to heat the water in the flow, you need to apply more power.
In order not to be unfounded, I will give the numbers and logic of calculations.
Calculation of the power required to prepare hot water
Cold water entering the boiler has a temperature of 12°C.
The boiler heats the water, and at the boiler outlet the hot water temperature will be 50°C. I set the number to 50 degrees, you can set your hot water temperature. In wall-mounted double-circuit boilers it is adjustable from 30 to 60 degrees.
The difference between the temperature of the water entering the boiler and leaving the boiler is called Delta. In my example, 50-12=38 degrees.
I don’t want to explain to you about the heat capacity of water, give you formulas that no one will understand anyway. To simplify, we can say: to heat 1 liter of water by 1 degree Celsius, you need to spend 1 Wh of energy.
When you open a hot water tap, approximately 8 liters of water flow out per minute. Therefore, in one hour, 8 l * 60 min = 480 l / min will flow out of this tap.
In my example, Delta was 38°C. 38*480=18,240 W/h or 18.2 kW/h. This is the power needed to heat water in a stream. Therefore, most manufacturers make wall-mounted double-circuit gas boilers with a power of 20 kW or more.
This power of a gas boiler is needed not for heating, but for preparing hot water!
Therefore, if you have 2 bathrooms and 4 people live, there is a high probability that two or even three people will turn on the hot water at the same time. The boiler will not have time to heat the water. There will be a long delay in hot water.
What power should a gas boiler have?
A wall-mounted boiler with a power of 24 kW provides 1-2 hot water points. It is difficult to heat hot water in a stream. Installers and customers do not know this. That the boiler power is needed for preparing hot water , and not for heating.
Pressure testing of the heating system - tricks from the installer
I often come across situations: 4 or more people live in a house, there is a half-ton bathtub, two bathrooms, one of them is on the 2nd floor. The installers installed a double-circuit gas boiler in the basement. The owner of the house complains that he has to wait a long time for hot water, and the boiler often breaks down.
This is a matter of equipment selection and system design. This is where people often go wrong. Order a heating system calculation from us. It is not expensive.
I explain to people this way: if more than 4 people live in a house, the distance between consumers is more than 5-7 meters, bathrooms are on different floors, and you already have a double-circuit gas boiler installed, then you need to recirculate, install an indirect heating boiler.

Now I recommend the Wissmann Vitopend wall-mounted gas boiler. This does not mean that I am a fan of Wissmann, and I recommend him to everyone. This is how market conditions developed.
There was a period when I staged Wissmann. I explained to people about quality and reliability. Then the price of Wissmann rose, people were looking for cheaper options. At that time, I installed Baxi and Ariston boilers, Fonditals.
Then Fonditals went up in price, Wissmann fell in price. The Wissmanns have gone again. I dissuade people from Koreans, but if they insist, put in a Korean, if there’s no money, I’ll put in. And then I prefer to put Deo. They are better than Navien.
I installed Aristons at one time, but they had a bad service policy. Perhaps it is still preserved. I can’t say that the Aristons are bad boilers, but the non-customer-oriented service spoiled everything. For this reason I stopped using Ariston.
