Installing a double-circuit gas boiler allows you to effectively solve the issue of hot water supply. But what to do if the hot water in the gas boiler does not turn on? Agree that you should not immediately panic and call the rescue service or service center.
We will get acquainted with the principle of operation of a double-circuit boiler, talk about the reasons that can lead to the cessation of hot water supply and ways to eliminate problems that arise.
Understanding the essence of the equipment’s operation, you can not only independently identify the causes of malfunctions, but also eliminate most faults, as well as restore the hot water supply in full.
Localizing the problem of boiler malfunction
With the development of modern low-rise construction and gas networks, the boiler has become a common household appliance in every house or apartment.
Basically, after installation, the boiler does not cause users any trouble. Modern boilers operate completely autonomously and require only regular maintenance or inspection. In our opinion, the average operating time of units before the first breakdown is from 4 to 6 years. Some users encounter problems even after 9 years, and some, on the contrary, earlier. In this material I will tell you what can be done if the boiler simply does not turn on, and I will also consider the most common malfunctions of gas boilers. The concept “does not turn on” can be completely different problems: There is no indication (the display does not light up)
The boiler does not light up
The boiler does not operate in any particular mode
Therefore, these different situations should be considered separately in detail. Please note that to eliminate some malfunctions, user intervention is sufficient, but in some cases it is necessary to call a qualified specialist.
Types of heating boilers
Absolutely all heating boilers can be divided according to such a criterion as the type of fuel on which they operate. Gas and electric energy are used by so-called universal boilers. Coal and firewood, as well as other materials such as peat, are used in solid fuel heating boilers. Only boilers that are called electric boilers operate only on electricity. Liquid fuel heating boilers operate at the solarium. On gas, accordingly, as you might already guess from the name, gas boilers. It's that simple. Why is there no water flowing into the fire tube boiler? A hot water fire tube boiler contains a housing, a gas exhaust pipe, a combustion video camera, and a fire tube. The water is heated by contact with the hot flame tube and transferred to the heating system.
So, how to choose exactly the boiler that will become yours? The first step is to find out what type of coolant will be profitable from a financial point of view in your region. In other words, you must receive confirmation that the purchased boiler will be reliable and safe in terms of the planned type of energy carrier. What aspects should be taken into account when buying a heating boiler so that it does not bring disappointment in the future? Let's list them all:
- Heating boiler location area
- Accurate knowledge about each type of boiler
- Number of circuits
- Accurate calculation of the power of all heating equipment in the house
You can immediately note the fact that the dimensions of the equipment will be selected based on the boiler location area. In other words, it is hardly worth purchasing a massive and bulky cast iron heating boiler for a small room.
The boiler does not turn on - there is no indication
Almost all modern gas boilers are equipped with a control board and an information panel with a liquid crystal display or LED indicators. If there is no indication, first of all you need to make sure that power is supplied to the boiler. Typically, the electrical connection of the boiler is carried out through a separate “automatic machine” - check whether it is turned on or not.
The surest way to make sure that power is supplied to the boiler is to check with a multimeter in voltmeter mode the presence of 220V at the connection point to the boiler board. If there is no voltage, it is necessary to localize and eliminate the problem. In real life, it happens that someone in the household simply pulls the plug from the socket.
Safety fuses
It is also worth paying attention to the location of the fuses. In some boilers, depending on the model (for example, Ariston, Buderus, Vaillant), the fuses are located on the board itself, and in some, before they are connected to the board. If there are no problems with the electrical connection to the boiler, you should check the integrity of the fuses (with the same multitester in the “continuity” mode).
If the fuses are intact and there is 220 volts at the control points, it is likely that the boiler does not turn on due to a malfunction of the control electronics.
If during the inspection it turns out that the fuses have blown, then there was at least a problem with the power supply. In this case, it would be correct to first conduct research on the actuators (fan, pump, priority valve) and boiler wiring for a short circuit. However, in practice, even representatives of specialized organizations simply replace the fuses with good ones and check the boiler in operation. If the fuses blow again, then sequentially turn off the high-voltage parts of the boiler to identify the problem area (this is not a recommendation for action! This approach is not entirely correct).
Several spare fuses are usually supplied with the boiler.
If the fuses blow due to damage to one of the actuators, it must be replaced (or the cause of the short circuit must be eliminated). In the case where it is proven that the mechanisms (and wiring) are in good working order, the control board itself remains. Blown fuses indicate that there was an unacceptable load on the electronics (thunderstorm, pulsed power surge in the network), so the cause of the malfunction may also be a short circuit on the board itself.
Water (moisture) getting on the board
Water ingress is one of the most unpleasant situations. Although the board is in a protective case, water may get inside due to leakage or condensation. Often it gets into the box through the wires. Water ingress almost always causes damage to the board, in most cases irreparable. Characteristic stains and oxidation will be visible on the board due to water.
Varistor and power supply
Often, if the boiler board is damaged, burnt or charred elements can be visually detected on it. A varistor is a protective element of the board that is installed at the input of the circuit. In most cases, this is a blue round part (but not necessarily). When the rated load is exceeded, the varistor is destroyed and opens the circuit. In some cases, if the varistor helped prevent damage to the electronics, biting it out is enough to eliminate the gap in the circuit. Important! Although the board circuit will work without a varistor, it should be remembered that the varistor is a protective device and the correct solution would be to replace it. The power supply is a microcircuit that is also damaged primarily by pulsed power surges or during a thunderstorm. If cracks or damage are visible, the boiler board will likely need to be diagnosed and repaired.
Display board
For some boiler models (Vaillant, Ariston, Navien), the control unit consists of a main board and an information board (display board). The boiler may also not turn on if the display board is broken. The display board, unlike the main one, is cheaper, but most often cannot be repaired. In this case, the fault can only be identified by replacing a known good part.
If the gas boiler is working, there is an indication on the display, but it does not start or produces errors, further diagnostics are required.
Boilers with semi-automatic ignition.
Heating equipment equipped with automatic Eurosit 630 or similar is classified as semi-automatic, because the main burners are ignited by the flame of the wick, which burns throughout the entire operation of the boiler.
Reasons and methods for eliminating water boiling in boilers with semi-automatic ignition.
Faulty coolant temperature sensors.
The temperature of the water in the heating circuit is controlled by sensors (thermistors), which are located in the supply and return lines of the boiler. A working sensor changes its resistance when the coolant temperature changes. For example, at 25 0C it will be approximately equal to 10 kOhm, and at 45 0C - 4.913 kOhm. According to the type of design, the sensor can be surface-mounted (reads parameters through the copper wall of the pipe) or submersible (contacts the coolant without an intermediary). If probes are not inspected in a timely manner, then a non-metallic coating forms on the contact surface, impairing heat transfer and causing their damage.
To study the condition of the thermistor, a tester is connected to the sensor contacts in the ohmmeter position. If it commits:
- the resistance is in the range of 1 - 30 kOhm, which means the sensor is working;
- 1 or 0, the probe must be replaced.
Procedure for replacing the temperature sensor:
- Depending on the type of probe, it is unscrewed or removed from the pipe.
- Before installing a new sensor, for overhead thermistors, thermal paste, for example, MX 4, is applied to the prepared base, from which dirt, oxides, and grease are removed. For immersed probes, the seat is cleaned, and fum tape is wound onto the mounting thread.
If the probe breaks down in automatic boilers, a fault code will be displayed on its dashboard. Also, the coolant may overheat due to a pump malfunction and filter contamination. Methods for identifying and eliminating such problems are described above.
Unfortunately, knowing almost nothing about the heating system of your home, we cannot help with specific advice. It’s like in medicine: to make a diagnosis, the doctor must receive test results and examine the patient. And we don’t even know the “anatomy”; you didn’t attach a diagram to the question. You need to know not only the general location of the heating devices, but also the structure of the boiler room, the location of the air vents, etc. But even knowing these parameters, trying to determine the nature of the problem in absentia is largely guessing from the tea leaves. There can be many local reasons for the malfunction of the system; we will outline the correct, in our opinion, algorithm for finding and eliminating them:
A manual air vent (Maevsky tap) must be installed on each radiator
Poor circulation can also be caused by general contamination of the system; first of all, the batteries become clogged. The heating device can be removed and blown with compressed air or washed with a powerful stream of water.
The diagram shows that automatic air ventilators on combs (5, 11) and Mayevsky taps (13) are placed on all heating devices without exception. This was done for a reason, but to eliminate situations similar to yours.
Cats don't sleep on cold radiators.
The boiler does not work in DHW or heating mode
And finally, situations when the boiler does not operate in a particular mode. They happen much less frequently compared to others. In this case, it is likely that the boiler will need to be diagnosed by a specialist. The process of ignition and operation of the boiler in different modes is virtually the same, with the exception that different modes may have different power. In hot water preparation mode, the boiler power is usually full, but in heating mode it can be minimal. You can read about problems in the operation of the DHW mode in a separate article.
The price of boilers is a decisive factor
There are two types of boilers - with a closed source-chamber and, accordingly, with an open one. Let's start with the first ones - boilers with a closed source are powered by air that comes from the street. They are distinguished by the highest coefficient of positive action; in addition, their installation does not require the involvement of an excessive number of specialists. Turbocharged boilers with a closed source are safe and environmentally friendly; even the smallest chimney will do for them.
Open source boilers, also called a combustion chamber, respectively, consume oxygen from the room where the heating system and heating equipment are located.
The task of a single-circuit boiler is to provide only heating, but double-circuit methods not only heat the room, but also water. It should be noted that it is double-circuit heating boilers that are most often purchased for a country house. Water does not flow into the fire tube boiler; the reasons, as mentioned above, can be very diverse.
Now we'll talk about boilers in general. What do you think it means to choose the right boiler for a private home? That's right - this means purchasing a device that will create comfort and coziness in your home. Heating equipment often not only warms the house, but also heats cold water.
Very often, heating boilers are now purchased not only in regular stores, but also ordered online. Before you buy a boiler, you need to understand how such heating equipment functions, and our article will help you with this...
How to choose exactly the boiler that will be reliable and durable? Answering this question is not as simple as it might seem at the very first moment. Hundreds of stores today are full of price tags - it’s easy to get confused in such variety. You will probably agree that most users need a boiler that is not only high-quality, but also cheap. Let's look at the most common types of heating boilers and find out how they actually differ.

Summary
In this article we looked at the most common cases when the boiler does not turn on or ignite. No one anywhere on the Internet will definitely tell you why your boiler won’t turn on; this requires at least an external inspection. This material will help you get acquainted with possible situations in general and is written on the basis of our statistics over several years.
If there is a malfunction, you need to determine the error and read the boiler operating manual. Also, for many boiler models, error descriptions with recommendations are available on our website. Malfunctions can be simple, which the user can fix independently, or complex, requiring qualified assistance and spare parts. We strongly do not recommend performing any actions with the boiler if you do not fully understand its structure and principles of operation, disabling protective devices or changing the boiler’s operation circuit to restore its operation. If there is a malfunction, it must be eliminated! If the cause of the malfunction is not completely clear to you, it is better to call a specialist.
Boiler Dakon Duo 24CK. This is such bullshit - the boiler works fine for hot water supply, but it doesn’t want to circulate water through the heating circuit. I pulled out the three-way valve, heated it with hot water - the rod moves out, i.e. The thermostat seems to be ok. The pump seems to be humming as usual. Those. either the coolant flows only through the internal circuit, or the pump still does not work (how to check?). What do you advise?
The pump may hum and not work. It is most likely jammed. 1. Unscrew the plug on the pump (there will be a little water, don’t be alarmed, this is normal). 2. Use a wide screwdriver (minus) to turn the pump (while it’s on, as you go). 3. The pump should start working. 4. Screw the plug back in. Post the results. R.S. Once you unscrew the plug, you will immediately see whether the pump is spinning or not. Perform points 2,3,4 ONLY IF THE PUMP IS STANDING.

I unscrewed the plug (though with the boiler turned off) and turned the screw with a screwdriver. In my opinion, it scrolls quite easily. With the boiler on, I unscrewed the plug only slightly to let out air. When I tried to unscrew it completely, water began to flow out of it, I thought that it could not be unscrewed during operation, so I was not able to see if the rotor was rotating.
Don’t be afraid, unscrew it while working. You won’t be able to do it any other way. You're not sugar, after all.
Got it, I'll try. Here’s another question (I think this was the root cause of all the troubles). Two years ago I changed the cartridges in the water filters at the entrance to the house. So the second cartridge - coal - cracked during installation and this granular coal began to enter the water supply system, including into the boiler when water was added to the heating system when the pressure decreased (through the boiler intake valve). Unfortunately, this was not detected immediately, and this coal ended up in the water for two years. Well, into the boiler from time to time. I discovered this only this winter, when the boiler stopped working and I drained the water from the water supply so that everything would not freeze. At the same time, I unscrewed the filter flasks and that’s when everything came to light. Now all the pipes are coated with coal inside. The dirt filter was dirty, but not too much. I don’t know where this all led. When I first climbed into the pump, it seemed to me that it took some effort to turn the shaft, after which the shaft began to rotate easily, but the water still did not want to flow along the outer contour.
I haven’t encountered this before, but I think that nothing particularly bad happened. You try, unsubscribe, and then, if necessary, we will move on. You should have seen what is happening inside heating systems (in metal) after 15-20 years of operation
You know, if you turn off the ignition, not a single car will start “from the pusher”.
There should be a filter on the return line. It needs to be cleaned. The pump has nothing to do with it. If the pump does not work, there is no hot water supply.

03 - 04 - 2021 author: Amiran Merabishvili Hello. I have an Ariston glass 24 FF boiler, the heating works, the hot water flows with good pressure and heats up to approximately 25 degrees. No matter how much you set the boiler, the temperature of the water in the tap does not increase, although it appears in the boiler as if it is warming up to the temperature it was at exhibited . What could it be?
28 - 02 - 2021 author: Daria Hello We have a problem with the boiler apgv 20m When we turn on the hot water tap, we get a big explosion and smell of gas. The boiler runs on batteries and therefore produces a spark, but does not ignite to heat cold water to hot. The investigator changed the batteries but it didn’t help. Hot water does not flow and the stove does not ignite and does not reach the temperature to heat up, but there is simply a spark and a terrible pop is formed and it smells of gas. Tell me what could be the problem

16 - 02 - 2021 author: Alexey Hello. Ferolli 24c. DHW problem. Heating is ok. The hot water supply does not heat the water. A little warm then cold. After a few seconds it goes into overheating - the green and yellow light blinks, sometimes the red light goes out. The water pressure from the hot tap is normal. Please advise what to pay attention to. Thank you.
08 - 02 - 2021 author: Vladimir Hello. Over the past week, the boiler has started heating hot or barely warm water every once in a while. Now for two days there is no hot water supplied at all. The heating works fine, but when you turn on the hot water, the boiler goes out, for about 30 seconds there is hot water from the heat exchanger and then cold. There are no error lights on. Through the economical and comfort mode, it heats the water warm, which lasts for a minute, you have to wash by turning the heating on to maximum and wait each time until it warms up))) I unscrewed the flow sensor, wiped it from the inside, visually everything is fine, but I’m not a master)) On the membrane There was a little rust and dirt around the edges and in the hole from which the water comes, I removed it as best I could, the membrane didn’t look very good either. I put everything back - to no avail. The boiler seems to have been installed in 2005, there were never any problems and the repairman was never called. It was cut off only due to low voltage and an uninterruptible power supply was installed. Do I need to buy a flow sensor kit and install a new one? Or could there be other problems?

24 - 12 - 2021 author: Nikola Hello. Please tell me, I have a two-chamber boiler Lynex 24, when I turn on the mixer, the boiler turns on and heats the water by a maximum of 25 degrees and that’s it. What could it be? The pressure is normal, the heating works great. And I still don’t know if it’s related to this, but when the heating is turned on or just hot water is turned on, the gas meter does not turn on.
15 - 12 - 2021 author: Igor Everyone has the same problem. And it is in the valve that opens and wedges under the three-way mechanism. It needs to be disassembled and the rubber band cleaned of scale. How to check that this is the case is very simple. For cold radiators, turn on the hot water and wait. If the first battery near the boiler starts to heat up and the water in the tap is barely warm or cold, then the problem is 100% there.

01 - 10 - 2021 author: Oleksiy Kovalenko Boiler immergas. As soon as the heating is turned on, the running water heats up less, by about 5-10 degrees. It heats perfectly without heating - at 43 degrees on the display the water is hot. And as soon as you turn on the heating, the water is warm at 47 degrees on the display. Tell me what could it be? It is unlikely that this is a heat exchanger, it feels like there is not enough gas.
25 - 09 - 2021 author: Sergey Gursky Good day! the WESTEN STAR 240I boiler is blocked and the water shortage indicator or pump blockage lights up. What can you suggest? Resetting did everything in vain. If you turn on the DHW and then the boiler heats up, you just turn off the DHW and the indicator immediately lights up.

20 - 11 - 2021 author: Natalia Hello. I have the same problem with my Protherm boiler. The ventilation (pipes) was replaced because the technician had previously said that it was the problem. The boiler either works as usual, then turns off in the middle of the night for heating, or rather hums and lights up as usual, but the radiators are barely warm, although they are hot when we go to bed. In the morning it does not want to turn on for either water or heating, it needs to be turned off after about 1 hour it starts working again. What could be the problem, please tell me

Boiler saunier duval themaclassic f30 (turbocharged) - including hot water, the boiler turns on and hot water flows, then after 1-2 minutes the boiler turns off and cold water flows for a minute, so again. In this case, the error does not show on the display. Please tell me where and what to “dig”??? — I also noticed that when the heating is not turned on and the hot water tap is not turned on, the boiler lives its own life and on the street you can hear that the boiler turns on for 5-8 seconds. and then turns itself off. What could this be??? Thank you!
01 - 07 - 2021 author: Svetlana Good afternoon. Our Thermona boiler has stopped heating water, the heating is working. Repairmen came, soldered the control board, pumped up the expansion tank to 1 bar, cleaned the filter, and cleaned the ignition electrode. 12 - 11 - 2021 author: Sergey Hello! We have a wall-mounted gas boiler Ariston Egis 24, which runs on three radiators. During the week, one remained warm, the other two cooled down. Warm - closest to the boiler. At the boiler outlet the heating pipe is hot, the return pipe is barely warm. Hot water comes out of the tap normally. I thought the radiators were airy. I tried to drain the water through the Mayevsky tap - the pressure gauge needle dropped to 0 when only one to one and a half liters of water were drained. However, the water is not very dirty. I raise the pressure to 2, drain a liter and a half - and again 0. I manage to heat the inlet to the radiator to 30 degrees, then everything cools down again. And the warm radiator remains warm. And it’s already -5 outside. What could be the reason? Thank you in advance for your answer.
02 - 11 - 2021 author: Alexander Morzhakov Hello! I have a wall-mounted gas boiler Koreastar Ace turbo 24. It has been working for 4 years. Exhaust temperature sensor was replaced twice. When we only used hot water, everything was fine, but we turned on the heating and it started. The boiler warms up the batteries once, then stops working. The yellow and red lights are flashing. It turns on with a button only when the water in the battery cools down, heats up again and stops. It does not turn on itself to heat up the heating again. We thought again about the temperature sensor, replaced it, cleaned it, vacuumed it, and pumped up the pressure in the barrel. It worked for one night, and began to turn off again after one warm-up of the batteries. Tell me what the problem is! The master shrugs, doesn’t understand! Thank you in advance! If possible, please send an answer by email. Help, we're freezing!

08 - 07 - 2021 author: Evgeniy Hello. I really need help. Vaillnt t4 turbo boiler. One morning it turned out that the boiler was not working. Even the indicator did not light up. I found a blown fuse, changed it to another (I don’t know the value), turned on the boiler, after turning it on it banged .during disassembly it turned out: a burnt resistor in the black block to which the ignition wires are connected and a capacitor exploded in a separate black block that controls the three-way valve control electromagnet. The ignition block was replaced and the capacitor too. Just in case, I replaced the middle board. but there is no hot water. boiler starts, but since the electromagnet does not work to control the three-way valve. So instead of water, the boiler heats the batteries. What else could it be? How to find the problem. As I understand it, this is an electrical problem. Mechanically, I took everything apart and washed it. (If instead of an electromagnet I use a simple magnet then the water is hot)

, if there was hot water before, but the pressure gradually decreased until the water disappeared, then the reason may be scale inside the boiler - the pipes in the boiler gradually became overgrown with scale (or the boiler boiled in an instant - the temperature rose sharply). Solution - you need to rinse the boiler with a special liquid that will dissolve that scale.

09 - 11 - 2021 author: Alexander I have a problem when you turn on the hot water, the batteries heat up, but the secondary heat exchanger is cold, and cold water flows from the tap. Please tell me what to do?
27 - 10 - 2021 author: Yuri Lagwww, I have no idea what it could be. Call a specialist and have him take a look. There is a guess that this may be due to the turbine that regulates the air flow. If it does not work properly or if something interferes with air exchange (for example, sparrows settled there and died), then when all the oxygen burns out, the fire goes out. But that's just a guess.
27 - 10 - 2021 author: Yuri Inna, most likely you need to clean the boiler (read the article and comments below). You also need to check if the taps are clogged. I once had a situation where I cleaned the boiler, but the hot water pressure never increased. It turned out that all my taps have mechanical filters (those small mesh at the tip of the tap and in the hose that leads to the nozzle in the shower). After I unscrewed these filters, a tablespoon of scale poured out;), which prevented the water pressure.
26 - 10 - 2021 author: Inna Hello, please tell me. Our boiler is working, but there is practically no hot water pressure at all and the fire on the boiler does not work to heat the water, what could this be? The boiler began to turn on frequently (light up) to heat the house.
11 - 10 - 2021 author: Lagwww Yuri, I turn on the hot water with good pressure, the fire in the boiler immediately lights up and when the water heats up to 30, sometimes up to 40, the fire goes out, and the temperature regulator is turned all the way
09 - 10 - 2021 author: Yuriy Lagwww, does the fire burn? If it is on, then maybe you just need to turn the temperature dial so that the water warms up better. If the fire goes out, something else is happening. Perhaps the pressure drops, since the fire first burns and then goes out. Overall, I need more information about what's going on.
09 - 10 - 2021 by: Lagwww Hello everyone. I have this problem: the water heats up, but not for long and it just becomes room temperature and that’s it, and sometimes for 30 seconds it’s even warm and that’s it. What could it be ?!
14 - 05 - 2021 author: Sergey Thank you very much, your advice helped me fix the problem myself without calling a technician
25 - 11 - 2015 author: Yuri Eva, in your case, most likely you need to clean the tube through which cold water passes through the boiler. The boiler heats this tube (it is bent in a zigzag pattern many times) and the water inside boils. Scale remains on the tube (like on a kettle). Over time, this scale increases to such a size that it completely blocks the tube and the water flows with very little pressure and is cold (since a certain minimum pressure is needed for the heating to turn on). You can call a specialist who will rinse your tube with a special solution. Or you can do it yourself. For example, take a large liter enema and fill it with a very concentrated solution of citric acid. Next, inject it into the hole where the cold water enters. And as soon as all the solution from the enema has entered the cauldron, close the hole from which hot water is coming out (and, of course, close the inlet hole where the enema solution was injected). You wait for some time (30 minutes). Until citric acid dissolves the scale. Perhaps foam will come out of both holes - this is how it should be. Drain the solution and repeat the procedure several times.
23 - 11 - 2015 author: Eva What hot tap are you talking about? And should the boiler be turned on or off when draining the water? I have a boiler - only the heating switch works, the second manual for hot water, whatever one may say, does not want to work. there is a lot of pressure from the cold tap, barely any pressure from the hot tap. What should I do? Thank you!
29 - 08 - 2015 author: Alexander Kotel (Vailant - 11 years old) stopped heating the water. I took the advice. Oh, miracle! Earned it. Thanks to the author.
Why does the boiler not heat water for the heating system?
There can be many reasons why a gas boiler does not heat water for heating. We will consider the main ones and ways to eliminate these reasons below.
The boiler turns on, but the heating does not heat.
Possible causes and their elimination:
- first of all, you should check whether air has accumulated in the batteries; using taps, you need to remove air from the system. To avoid air venting, install an air vent.
Battery bleed valve
It operates on the principle of an expansion tank, without reducing the pressure in the system. After the unit has been idle for a long time, check the valve; it may become clogged with scale;
- Batteries are clogged, what should I do in this case? It is necessary to drain the water from the cooled batteries. If you see that water flows out with debris, and sometimes black slurry may flow out, you need to flush the system to clean water;
- incorrectly made connection and piping. The diameter of the pipes may be incorrectly selected, shut-off valves may not be installed correctly, or the heat exchanger may be incorrectly connected. Check the manufacturer's recommendations in the instructions and correct any errors;
- at reduced pressure the unit also does not heat well, add water to the system;
- the appearance of scale in the heat exchanger. It is necessary to flush the heat exchanger from deposits. Not all models make it easy to remove the heat exchanger from the device. Where this is difficult to do, you can clean it without removing it. To do this, the boiler must be turned off and cooled.
Connect pump hoses with a filtration system to the inlet and outlet and rinse the heat exchanger with a special cleaning liquid. Afterwards, be sure to rinse the boiler with clean water to remove chemical residues, otherwise the remaining particles of the product can lead to corrosion of the heat exchanger, pipes and heating batteries.
what is this, photo of the circuit for this type, why does the water boil quickly in the expansion tank
The main difference between open or gravity systems (OS) and closed ones is that in the OS the coolant communicates with the surrounding air in an open expansion tank.
The coolant is in the system under atmospheric pressure, there is no excess pressure.
Odnoklassniki
Description of an open type heating system: what is it?
The OS heating circuit consists of a boiler located at the lowest point of the building - the basement or pit.
A vertical coolant supply riser extends from the boiler to the top point of the building (attic or attic), where the expansion tank (RB) is located.
Horizontal pipes with a slight slope extend from the RB along the top of the building to vertical risers, through which the coolant is delivered to the radiators.
The return line runs from the heating appliances at the bottom of the room, also with a slight slope towards the boiler.
Principle of operation
Schematically, the OS heating circuit can be represented as a long vertical ring. One side of the ring is with hot water (supply riser from the boiler to the boiler), the other side is with cold water (riser with return from the radiators). The density of a hot coolant is less than that of a cold fluid - water expands when heated.
Consequently, the weight of water and the pressure of the water column in the cold part of the circuit will be higher than the weight of water and the pressure of the column in the hot leg.
According to the law of communicating vessels, the liquid will tend to balance the pressures - to move from the cold branch to the hot one.
The principle of operation of a double-circuit heating boiler
Using a gas unit as an example, let’s look at the operating principle of a double-circuit boiler. The design of the unit is a system of blocks, the operation of which is interconnected and controlled by a security system, which includes various sensors. The main blocks are a gas block, where ignition and combustion occurs, a hydraulic block, which regulates the flow and pressure of liquid, and a smoke removal block, which removes gas combustion products.
When the boiler is turned on, the circulation pump is initially started, then gas is supplied using the gas valve. Automatic ignition ignites the gas, and as the gas burns, the heat exchanger heats up, heating the coolant passing through it. In this mode, the unit will work for some time until the parameters that are regulated by sensors change.
Sensors monitor the temperature in the room, in the return flow, gas pressure, system pressure, draft flow, and the presence of flame. Temperature sensors can regulate the temperature at the inlet or outlet of the heating circuit. If there is a sensor on the return, when the set temperature is reached, the thermostat sends a signal to the electronic board, which, after processing it, turns off the gas supply.
In this case, the circulation pump will run for some time to cool the heat exchanger. This is done so that the remaining heat in the heat exchanger does not bring the coolant to a boil. After the water in the system has cooled to the set temperature, the electronic board will start the pump, the gas valve will open the gas and the entire cycle of operation of the double-circuit boiler will be repeated.
When a hot water tap is opened, the flow sensor is activated and the control board switches the three-way valve to heat the secondary heat exchanger. Heating hot water in the system is a priority, i.e. immediately after you open the hot water tap, the entire system will only work to heat this water.
When the tap closes, the reverse process occurs - the board transmits a signal to the three-way valve, it closes the DHW system and the unit again starts working on the heating circuit. Please remember that it will take some time for the unit to produce hot water from your tap.
Some devices are equipped with a “quick start” or “comfort” function. This function allows the boiler to periodically switch the three-way valve and heat the water in the secondary coolant.
What happens when hot water is turned on at one point of intake
The double-circuit boiler is set to maintain a certain temperature in the hot water supply circuit. When you turn on hot water at one of the points:
- For some time, cold water continues to flow from the tap, which was standing in the pipe before it was opened,
- the boiler heats up, and a certain time is required for it to reach the set temperature,
- after a few seconds, the heated water enters the pipe and begins to move to the intake point,
- a few more seconds are needed for the hot water to reach the point of intake,
- an additional few seconds are necessary due to the fact that the incoming water seems too hot to the consumer, and he adjusts the water supply with the mixer.
Heating boilers for solid fuel
The most affordable fuel in Russia is solid-state fuel. That is why solid fuel boilers have become very widespread in Russia - they are installed everywhere in many private homes. It should be noted that it is not allowed to use materials that are not provided by the boiler manufacturer as an energy carrier. In other words, you cannot load anything that can burn into solid fuel boilers - you can only use natural firewood, as well as coal; in addition, you can use lumps of peat for heating. Solid fuel boilers have a number of advantages - low cost of energy carrier, complete autonomy of the system, good efficiency.
When purchasing a boiler that runs on solid fuel, you need to be prepared that this equipment is not automatic - in other words, you will need to constantly add firewood to it, and the time will depend only on the boiler itself. Automatic systems for throwing firewood into the boiler remain quite rare to this day - they are used mainly in specialized industries. The reason why water does not flow into the fire tube boiler is: installation of fire tube installations and diagnostics of the work are carried out by experts; compliance with the requirements of SNiP is necessary. Constant monitoring is not required for the operation of the boiler and compliance with generally accepted technical standards; almost all processes occur automatically (control of outlet temperature, pressure in the system).
Heating and water supply systems in a large private home can be incredibly complex
Problems with the heating circuit
The pump must be selected according to the requirements of the heating circuit.
Malfunctions in the operating mode of the heating circuit are not always associated with a malfunction of the main heating element. If the boiler works, but does not heat the batteries, the reason must be sought in the wiring itself.
List of main heating circuit malfunctions:
- the filter on the return line or the needle tap (Maevsky tap) is clogged;
- insufficient power of the circulation pump;
- the rules for installing a heating circuit with natural circulation have not been followed.
Any of the above problems must be resolved before the start of the heating season. Otherwise, the room may be left without heat for several days, since the repair involves completely draining the coolant.
So, why doesn’t the boiler heat the batteries if everything worked fine over the previous years? The reason is a dirt plug that has formed on the heating circuit filter and completely blocks the coolant flow. It can be solved simply - the water is drained from the pipes or its circulation is blocked using bypasses, and the filter is cleaned. To prevent a recurrence of such a situation, it is necessary to completely replace the coolant with parallel flushing of the entire circuit.
In a gravity system, the slope of the pipes is key.
The second reason why the boiler works but the radiators are cold is the insufficient power of the circulation pump. The performance of the device is not enough to pump the entire volume of coolant in a timely and efficient manner. Or the heating system in the house has branches that are located at a significant distance from the pump. As a result, the circulation pump overheats, the heating equipment operates with excessive energy consumption, and the radiators remain cold. The solution is to change the coolant pumping device to a more powerful one.
If the house has a two-pipe heating circuit with natural circulation of water, and during the heating season it is often noticed that the boiler is on and the radiators are cold, then the reason lies in non-compliance with the slope of the main line. According to regulatory documentation, only a pipe slope of 10 mm per linear meter in a heating system with natural circulation will ensure normal coolant movement. The result is uniform heating of the batteries throughout the house. If there is no slope, the coolant stagnates, which negatively affects the temperature of the radiators. The problem can be solved by completely redoing the wiring.

Methods for troubleshooting gas boilers Arderia
Content:
Arderia double-circuit gas boilers made in South Korea (Daesung) are manufactured under license from the famous Daewoo brand and represent a new generation of household gas equipment. Perhaps someone has not yet heard about heating equipment from this brand, but from the experience of people who have used it, one can judge that these are high-quality products.
The same thing was said about the now well-known South Korean Navjen boilers (largely thanks to the developed service system in our country). This is a similar technique from a previously unknown manufacturer, which was initially perceived with caution. This, however, does not mean its shortcomings. That is why many are advised to pay attention to Arderia products. Below are the main parameters of gas boilers from this company.
Model | Power consumption, kW | Heated area, m2 | Hot water capacity, l/min | Gas consumption, m3/h | Overall dimensions, mm (length x width x height) |
ESR 2.13 | 6,5-16 | 60-150 | 5,4-8,7 | 0,65-0,78 | 420x200x660 |
ESR 2.16 | 6,5-18,6 | 105-175 | 6,7-10,7 | 0,77-2,18
ESR 2.20 | 8,6-23,3 | 130-220 | 8,3-13,3 | 0,97-2,73
ESR 2.25 | 12,2-29,1 | 165-275 | 10,4-16,7 | 1,43-3,41 | 460x205x700 |
ESR 2.30 | 12.2-34,9 | 200-330 | 12,5-20 | 1.44-4,11 |
The power consumption of boilers depends on the heated area and is set, like the consumption of natural gas, during the initial setup of the boiler.
Analyzing the table of technical characteristics, we can conclude that the range of standard sizes of Arderia boilers is carefully thought out and depends on the size of the heated area. At the same time, the productivity of the equipment varies within very small limits, ranging from 91 to 93%. But the value of the specific energy consumption of boilers changes noticeably, which is m2/m3 for the models:
- ESR 2.13 – 146.85;
- ESR 2.16 – 94.92;
- ESR 2.25 – 90.91;
- ESR 2.30 – 122.12.
It follows from this that Arderia heating boilers are the most economical when heating medium-sized areas, and therefore are suitable for installation in apartments or individual houses with an area of 150-300 m2.
Positive design features
In the design scheme of Arderia boilers, a large percentage of components are used that are not domestic, but imported. Basically, these are products of Japanese origin, although there are Danish and German knots. This circumstance may to some extent complicate warranty and service maintenance of equipment. This must be taken into account when purchasing, since for Arderia gas boilers even this feature is noted in the instructions.
Let's consider the characteristics of individual components of these heating systems.
- Heat exchangers. The presence of copper heat exchangers in the primary circuit significantly increases the home heating performance. At the same time, the secondary circuit heat exchanger is made of stainless steel. The decision, dictated by the desire to reduce the cost of the unit, actually results in a delay in the flow of hot water at the outlet of the boiler.
- Monitoring operating voltage in the control circuit. A voltage stabilizer is installed in the boilers, which allows the electronics of the unit to function uninterruptedly in a fairly large range - from 150 to 286 V, and in a short-term peak - even more. This option allows the equipment to better adapt to the energy quality in rural areas. At the same time, this increases the service life of built-in automation devices. In general, in the Arderia boiler control scheme, increased attention is paid to safety issues: for example, the protection system controls both overheating and freezing of the boiler, controls the quality of the flow of combustion products through the chimney, and prevents possible gas leaks.
- Pressurization of external air, which improves fuel combustion conditions and thereby increases the efficiency of the boiler, is implemented in Arderia units using a fan that operates on direct current. This, although it complicates the control circuit, makes it possible to optimize the number of fan shaft revolutions depending on the required gas pressure. As a result, the service life of this unit increases.
- The circulation pump from the Grundfos brand operates according to a dry rotor design. This design of the unit reduces its sensitivity to the coolant flow conditions in the pipelines, since various deposits inevitably form there over time, impairing the lubrication of rotating parts. Thus, the operating conditions of the pump are improved.
Regarding Arderia gas boilers, it is worth mentioning that the operating instructions recommend the following sequence for controlling the unit.
- The required temperature is set on the control panel.
- The temperature sensor automatically turns on the boiler, which begins to function until the room temperature reaches the set values.
- Next, the control sensor turns off the boiler, cutting off the gas supply to the fuel-burning device.
- When the coolant temperature in the network drops by more than 15°C, the boiler turns on automatically, after which the operating cycle is repeated.
- The pressure of the coolant and gas in the boiler during all of the above processes is controlled by the air release valve, as well as by the valve that controls the gas pressure. All functions of monitoring and controlling the operation of the unit are implemented using a remote control panel.

The remote control panel allows the user to make appropriate decisions based on the so-called “error code”. For Arderia gas boilers, such malfunctions occur most often.
- The pressure sensor turns off and the chimney blows out - occurs when it is clogged or the external outlet is icy.
An unacceptable reduction in fan speed occurs in case of careless installation or when foreign particles enter the fan.
- The overheating sensor is triggered when the circulation pump fails or the valves that control water flow are closed.
- Unacceptable decrease in pressure in the primary circuit - the cause is insufficient coolant supply, possible leaks in the pipelines or pump malfunction.
- Ignition blockage occurs when there is no gas supply, the gas valve or gas duct is damaged.
- The presence of a flame on the burner when the boiler is turned off is a consequence of a malfunction of the electronic boiler control unit.
- Abnormal range of operating temperatures of the coolant - occurs when the filters are clogged, the pump fails, the water flow sensor or valves supplying it are faulty.
It should be noted that the presence of intelligent diagnostics allows you to quickly troubleshoot Arderia gas boilers.

We calculate the power of the heating boiler
It should immediately be noted that any savings on heating equipment are simply unacceptable, since in the future this will lead to problems associated with the repair and maintenance of such equipment. By accurately calculating the required power, you can save much more effectively than saving directly on equipment, which must ensure accuracy and reliability over many years of operation. Causes of water not flowing into the fire tube boiler
So, let's calculate the approximate indicators. If the area of the house is 100 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 5 to 12 kilowatts will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be 3.2 kg/h. If the area of the house is 130 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 6 to 16 kilowatts will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be 4.7 kg/h. If the area of the house is 160 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 6 to 20 kilowatts will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be 6.0 kg/h. If the area of the house is 200 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 7 to 24 kilowatts will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be 7.6 kg/h. If the area of the house is 220 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 8 to 25 kilowatts will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be 7.9 kg/h. If the area of the house is 270 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 10 to 32 kilowatts will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be 8.9 kg/h. If the area of the house is 370 square meters, then a boiler with a capacity of 18 kilowatts or more will be sufficient - and the maximum fuel consumption will be at least 14 kg/h.
To calculate the heating power and provide heat to the house, you need to use special standards and design documents. You also need to take into account a number of other equally important characteristics. Among them:
- Number of floors in a private house
- Number of residents
- Number of windows
- Type of building materials used to build the house
- Number of doors
- Climatic location-zone
Why is there no water flowing into the fire tube boiler? First you need to know how the power of heating equipment is calculated. It uses a formula that looks like 0.1 kilowatt per 1 square meter. Nevertheless, heat losses can be much lower - this state of affairs is achieved due to the fact that modern construction uses materials that can retain heat for a long time.
The point of buying an electric heating boiler
The question why buy a heating boiler is asked by many homeowners. Often people think about installing an electric heating boiler when the house has already been built, but is not yet connected to the gas line. About a quarter of all electric boilers sold are later replaced by gas ones. The most common models of electric heating boilers have a power in the range from five to ten kilowatts - they can heat the air in the room to plus five degrees Celsius when outside the house the temperature is about minus twenty degrees Celsius. It is always unprofitable to purchase an electric heating boiler - the price of electrical energy is extremely high and you will not be able to save money this way. The reason why water does not flow into the fire tube boiler is most often that the filter mesh is simply clogged. Check it and clean it if necessary.
The main characteristic feature of electric boilers is the low price of the equipment itself. In addition, the advantages include easy installation and unpretentious operation. Another advantage of electric boilers is that there is no need to allocate a special room for heating equipment. In addition, there is no open fire, and the equipment itself takes up very little space. Electric boilers also have disadvantages - the highest cost of electricity, the extreme sensitivity of heating equipment to surges in the network. In addition, it should be noted that for particularly powerful electric heating boilers there are restrictions - they can only be connected to a three-phase power supply.
